Coming to America!!!!

Hey Lovelies,

I am so EXCITED to announce the stateside launch of international makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury’s eponymous collection is finally here! The line will launch online first next week, September 2, and then Charlotte is partnering up with Bergdorf Goodman in New York and Nordstrom in Los Angeles at The Grove for MASSIVE launch events in early October, and rolling out in major regional markets with Nordstrom through November.

Charlotte is considered one of the biggest makeup artists in the world. She counts Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez, Penelope Cruz, Sienna Miller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Gisele, Rihanna, Natalie Portman, Eva Mendes and more as clients, and is beloved by industry insiders from models to photographers and designers who all consider Charlotte their go-to. Charlotte has built her brand upon an empowering message for women that stems from her own personal mantra: “give a woman the right makeup and she can conquer the world.” She’s a believer in the power of makeup and how it can change your life—after discovering mascara at 13, she built the confidence and belief in herself to make up her own destiny and write her own future.

“Beauty is not an exclusive club – there are no unattractive women, just some that don’t know the power of make-up,” says Charlotte Tilbury. “I was shocked to find out that 50% of women do not engage with make-up and the reasons are: they don’t know how to use it, they don’t know what suits them, they don’t have the time. I wanted to revolutionize the retail experience for these women. Even as a professional makeup artist, I walk onto the Beauty Hall floor and want to run in the opposite direction.  There’s so much choice and so little direction, help and problem-solving and I wanted to set my brand apart from this.”
Charlotte has taken the wealth of knowledge she’s amassed thanks to her 20+ years in the industry to create a range of skincare and cosmetic products based on Hollywood icons and celebrities to take the guesswork out of shopping the makeup counter. All of her products treat and transform, so they have skin benefits whilst making you look beautiful. To make the counter experience easier on consumers, Charlotte created 10 signature looks which are the iconic looks she recreates time and again on celebrity clients such as Kate, Penelope, Gisele and Rihanna. These looks are inspired by past beauty icons (Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Bo Derek) and their modern day counterparts. While you can purchase products individually, you can also walk up to the counter and purchase a full look (e.g. The Rock Chick or The Uptown Girl) and get all the products you need to deliver coordinated eyes, cheeks and lips – so that choosing and creating an expertly finished look is totally seamless.

The range will be launching online first with,,, and, and will take NYC by storm on October 7 at Bergdorf Goodman. Charlotte will be hosting a master class with consumers in the morning teaching all the beauty looks she’s famous for and that afternoon will host a cocktail party to celebrate the launch with her celebrity friends, industry insiders, and consumers. As part of the Bergdorf launch she’ll also be unveiling the first-ever beauty specific windows for Bergdorf Goodman!

After the NY launch event, Charlotte will travel to Los Angeles where the line will take over Nordstrom at The Grove with a beauty festival for consumers on October 10 and 11. Celebrity friends will make appearances and there will be lots of fun, interactive elements such as: lipstick readings; facial mapping; a “Turn Back Time Skincare Bar” where you can learn the 5 steps to looking 5 years younger, learn how to contour your face AND body, etc. Launch events will also be hosted with Nordstrom in other major markets including Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Orange County, Washington D.C. and Las Vegas through Spring 2015.

Charlotte’s Magic Cream Treat & Transform Moisturizer, $95
Magic Cream is a miracle-working moisturizer that instantly turns around tired, dull, dehydrated skin that Charlotte has been using and perfecting for years backstage at shoots and shows. Charlotte calls it a push-up bra in a jar! The unique, oil-rich formula fights the aging process on all fronts and is packed with a mix of breakthrough and proven anti-aging ingredients, plus a touch of Charlotte’s magic, to flood the skin with moisture, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and transform a dull complexion into luminous, glowing skin. A mix of oils and Vitamins A, C and E transform dull, grey skin into mirror-like shine.

Tilbury Tip: Use Charlotte’s patented “Pro Collagen Wonder Workout” to stimulate lymphatic drainage. Simply blend the moisturizer up and out over the cheeks like angel wings and then, using a light but firm pitter-patter motion, tap in the cream across the forehead, down the nose and over the chin. This increases micro-circulation for youthful luminosity. Magic Cream can also be used to fix makeup mishaps. Just dip a Q tip in to remove any dropped eyeshadow, fix a feline flick or tidy up mascara.

Wonderglow Instant Soft-Focus Beauty Flash, $52
This cross between an anti-aging elixir and a complexion-enhancing light diffuser gives your skin an instant “spotlight” effect so you look lit from within. Powered by a breakthrough Fluorescent Core Light Diffuser that cleverly steals UV light from its surroundings and re-emits it as skin luminosity, this instant pick-me-up disguises and transforms drab, sleep-deprived skin. A dream for tired, dull and hungover skin! Collagen boosting peptides and patented wrinkle-preventing ingredients are fused with light-reflecting microspheres that fill in wrinkles and scatter light to blur away lines and flood skin with luminosity.

Tilbury Tip: Use Wonderglow underneath foundation, on its own for a relaxed, effortlessly dewy look, or on top of makeup through-out the day to give your skin an instant pick-me-up.
Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face Sculpt & Highlight, $65
This wonder compact has a universal bronzer that is the perfect blend to contour the skin and enhance facial framework, and an ultra-flattering highlighter that leaves skin looking like it’s dripping in candlelight. All this is wrapped up in a covetable compact inspired by the elegance and glamour of a 1920’s cigarette case. The colour-rich pigments are rolled into elastomer pearls that smooth & buff the skin for excellent blendability & perfect colour uniformity. This compact is the answer to women who are scared of the idea of contouring—it’s the secret to creating a slimmer, sculpted face that silver screen sirens have kept to themselves for years.

Tilbury Tip: Want to cheat killer cheekbones and a defined jawline? Simply dip a precision brush into the natural Sculpt shade, suck in your cheeks, and follow the hollow. Paint along the jawline for a defined chin and jaw, and on the temples for that sun-kissed glow. Dust the Highlight shade on the top of the cheekbones, down the nose and on the cupid’s bow for a lit-from-within radiance and a slimmer, sculpted face.

Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Mascara in Glossy Black, $29
Charlotte is a mascara obsessive and used to cocktail up to five mascaras to get the effect she desired (curl, volume, separation, length and drama). Full Fat ticks all boxes – it curls, separates, lengthens and adds volume and drama for full, fluttering bambi lashes. This is the perfect way to cheat that false lash effect, all year round. The specially-designed laser cut brush picks up even the smallest of lashes for a larger than life flutter.

Tilbury Tip: Always curl lashes before using mascara. It’s like a push up bra for the eyes. Also, you need to layer mascara for full effect! Use at least three coats and lift from the root to elongate and thicken.
·         CURL: the 5-grooved brush deposits the optimal amount of mascara right in the lash line, pushing your lashes up and out
·         SEPARATION: the fine-tipped bristles catch every lash, no matter how short or fine, coating them in black brilliance
·         VOLUME: the glossy black formula creates voluptuous, outrageous lashes that don’t drop onto your cheeks
·         LENGTH: the maximum bristle count covers every lash to the very tip
·         DRAMA: the 5 star brush creates a 3-dimensional flutter, buildable for maximum drama – for that “individual falsies” multi-layered effect
Rock ‘N’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil, $26
The eye liner to end all eye liners. Revolutionize the way you line your eyes with Charlotte’s statement liquid eye liner in a pencil. Inspired by the ultimate, rock chick “bedroom eyes,” Rock ‘N’ Kohl boasts the silky smooth glide and accuracy of a liquid liner with the soft, sooty, pigment-rich result of a kohl and sets for up to 14 hours, so you can rock all night and still keep your kohl on! Available in Bedroom Black, Barbarella Brown, Veruschka Mink, Elizabeth Violet, Marlene Midnight, and Eye Cheat—a nude-colour waterline pencil to create the illusion of bigger, brighter eyes.

Tilbury Tip: For a more dramatic feline shape, drag the line down in a v-like shape to the lower lash line. This will give you more of a feline look.
LAUNCH: September 2nd (online only), October 2014 (in-stores)

I hope you all check her out!! If you do let me know what you picked up :D

Dermaflage Review *Sponsored*

Hi Lovelies!

This review is for the Dermaflage Topical Perfecting Filler, which is designed to fill in problem areas such as recessed scars and wrinkles. I was sent their kit to try out, and having some problem areas of my own, was more than willing to give it a shot. The kit includes 14 fl ounces of a liquid primer, two applicators, various application tools, and a texture pad. All of this comes in a small, plastic makeup bag with some extra tips for the applicators and detailed instructions.

I read through the instructions carefully, and even then it took me a bit to figure out how to apply the product correctly. In my first couple of trials, the filler came off with the texture pad, but I finally learned the trick and managed to get it to stay on with no lifting at the edges or any peeling.

The tone I selected matched my complexion nicely, and blended fairly smoothly. Looking in the mirror, I could not tell that it was there, and it did fill the areas I applied it to nicely. However, it felt heavy on my skin, and I could definitely tell that something was there. I expected this, as it is not really a makeup or a concealer, but a silicon based filler.

I kept it on while I went to work, thinking to see if it would hold up to a 10 hour day, in real world conditions. Almost immediately, the edges started cracking and lifting, causing my fellow employees to question what was wrong with my face. They asked if I was peeling from a sunburn, and when I went to the bathroom to look, that was exactly what it looked like.

Over all, I would say the Dermaflage Topical Perfecting filler is not a bad product, but not one that should be worn in everyday life. It would be perfect for a photo-shoot, or maybe through a first date, but long term application did not work for me. They offer many different shades, to match most skin tones and supply enough for 60 – 200 applications, depending on the area one wishes to cover. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow, and everything is clearly labeled as to the order of use. As I found, and they also admit, it may take a bit of practice to get the silicon to stick just right.

I would recommend the Dermaflage filler to anyone wishing to cover a trouble area for a short time, but for me, it did not stay in place as long as I might wish it to.

.EM by Michelle Phan *Sponsored*

Today I am writing on Michelle Phan's .EM Life Palette, specifically the Day Life package. This is a neat little package sectioned off into four color groupings which includes the essentials for eyes, lips and cheeks. She has everything clearly labeled, and even gives some detailed instructions to recreate her unique looks.

Also included in the kit is a smaller, separate container designed so that the entire kit does not need to be transported in case someone needs to reapply or touch up an area. This system works fairly well for those of us who are constantly on the go and have only limited space in our purses! It is easy to pick the shades you want to wear, pop them out of the master kit and place them in the smaller holder to take with you.

The makeups she uses are of fairly high quality, giving easy application and all day dependability. The colors selected are subtle, letting a woman's natural beauty do the work instead of looking “made up.” This is a full kit, including with it the application brush, instructions, the larger palette, its smaller companion and a little tool used to pop out the individual color disks so that they may be swapped around. Everything is labeled as to its use, and size is coordinated, making it extremely user friendly. In fact, it is so user friendly that it seems to have been designed with the younger user in mind. I personally would have no problem giving this palette to a young woman just starting to learn to apply her own makeup, and would feel confident that she would be able to follow the instructions and be able to create her own look in just a short time.

I think the life palette is an excellent idea and a product that would have been nice to have available to me when I was starting out all those years ago. If there is a little girl in your life who is ready to venture out on her own into the sometimes overwhelming world of cosmetics, I would recommend getting The Life Palette for her. She will be happy that she can learn to apply her own makeup fairly easily, and you will be pleased that she wont look trashy doing it!
